On 13 July 1979, member of the Armenian Helsinki Group Eduard Arutyunyan (CCE 48.5) was arrested in Erevan. He was arrested on the premises of the Armenian Procuracy, to which he had been summoned in connection with one of his statements.
A search was conducted at his home and copies of his letters to various organizations were confiscated.
