Action Group for Defence of Human Rights in USSR

The oldest human rights group in the Soviet Union, with members from Moscow, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, the ACTION GROUP began its activities in 1969 by appealing, over the head of the Soviet government, to the UN Human Rights Committee. Its formal existence ended with the imprisonment of Tatyana VELIKANOVA in 1980.
