  • The letter of 28 August 1968 from Natalya Gorbanevskaya [CCE 3.3] to the editors of Rude Pravo, Unita, Humanite, The Morning Star and other foreign newspapers: an account of the events of 25 August.

  • A letter from Anatoly Jakobson replying to accusations that the demonstration was “useless”.

  • A letter from P.G. Grigorenko and A.Ye. Kostyorin, condemning the arrest of the demonstrators and the organization of the impending trial.

  • A letter from seven people, including Pyotr Yakir, written on the eve of the trial and entitled “Those who will be tried on Wednesday”; a series of documents are attached to the letter.

  • A letter from Vladimir Lapin, Mrs Z.M. Grigorenko and Leonid Vasilyev addressed to the Politburo of the Communist Party Central Committee. Citing the conditions at the court building and the anti-Semitic and anti-intellectual mood of certain groups of young people, the letter points to serious defects in the ideological education system.
